2022 Austin Film Festival Writers Conference Full Recap
I thought there must be a tractor sale on somewhere...
Happened to catch Andor walking by the TV, stood and watched and then was drawn in. Then I u found out its Gilroy, from Michael Clayton and Bourne. Its all such great writing.
It's always fascinating to listen to him. He is a brilliant auteur and The Bikeriders is a really good movie.
Only Jeff knows how to explain his script decision clearly.
They emphasize so much on the flashbacks, when in reality, they honestly could've cut all of that out & just used Emma Thompson's body language to tell the story. Listening to the writer & director has helped inform me on their creative process & I loved every single minute of it.
Bbc pbs
At 1:50 the video freezes. Please fix.
love for x files from china!! i watched it when i am young and develop a critical mind and distrust of authority/government and also attitude of finding truth myself! "trust no1 and the truth is out there" encourage me from developing an independent attitude towards what news/society says. Thanks to the show, it's really an eye opener with such value built in. It is a privilege to see such an masterpiece as a kid now it got banned in China. back then we are still in honeymoon with the west. I do wish there are more independent tv series to influence more people world-wide.
This is a great interview! Thanks for sharing
This was robert downey jr.'s second film. He played the kid traveling to greasers with his parents in a wagon. His real life mother played his mother too in this movie. .
It's a religious classic.
Hey editor! Love your videos. But it seems like this one freezes around 9:27 - 9:51.
Thank you for this
this is gold
Koep is Absolutely brilliant, I don't find his scripts too deep but to condense Jurassic Park into a popular movie is BRILLIANT
@10:50 it sounds like the interviewer didn't see BAD INFLUENCE and Koepp wanted to go into it a little more
You can drag past the breaks, it happens more than once
Video is broken
Im not british so I won’t comment an xfm reference
Video keeps freeze-framing?
Yes
Beautfiul filmmaker. Dear Roger. Hollywood should have respected him more for his work. He has made more films. Shame on Hollywood shite. They are destorying the film world. He speaks the truth. Very nice man and funny.
2016? He really recovered well.
Buck was a very underrated and under appreciated genius
one of my favorite screenplays - anybody have any recommendations of other films that explore the grotesque in this way?
Sounds like Mark wants to take credit for every idea and say Lynch just shot and edited it. Lynch has been obsessed with the atom bomb forever, has had the photo we see in the return in his office for over 20 years. But it was your idea, right? Bs.
I've always loved the movie and am truly grateful for the writer's explanation. Loved it. Thank you.
Marvel needs to hire DeMayo back, X-Men 97 was one of the best animated shows Ive ever seen
You are 100% correct. Marvel can fix this, bring back Beau DeMayo
dude could literally play Steve Jobs
What a great actress.
Best movie ever!!!
DeMayo is responsible for Xmen ‘97. Therefore he can do no wrong
Beau DeMayo says it in the interview himself, "respect the source material" and "resist inserting your own agenda". He even has a solid take on Superman. If Marvel doesn't rehire him then DC should snag him up like they did with James Gunn.
bleeping out the F words like little kids

lonesome dove became my ALL TIME FAVORITE movie from the week it aired to.....as long as i live! there is no other above it or comes even close to lonesome dove imo!! after the airing, i needed to find the book which i STILL have several copies of and the fact that it was sooooooo long made reading even better!! it was the first movie and book that stayed sooooo true to each other that i have no problem spending time reading close to a 1,000 pages alllllll over again!!! used to be, the thicker the book, the better i liked it but i looooooove lonesome dove!!!! it's funny thru out this piece how many people told these folks "can't can't can't!!!......." i'm so very happy these folks said "CAN CAN CAN and watch us work!!!!" can you imagine! what "we" would've missed out on had the "can't people" had their way?????
Through the time... especially now robocop is something that you can think about deeper than ever
When I watched the movie of Melquiades Estrada I was reminded of many instances during my childhood in Arizona near the Mexico border. Our father was an itinerant water well driller that usually worked in rural desert areas near the Mexico border and at times in the state of Sonora. In the late 1940's and 50's we would cross the border into Mexico with a wave of a hand by the crossing guard. It was indeed a common culture in the area that was very little affected by the actual border. We didn't speak fluent Spanish then like Tommy Lee Jones but could understand get by. It is one of my favorite movies and I have watched it several times. It truly captures the essence of life in small towns in both countries.
I hope everyone in this video survived the pandemic. Its crazy how this was years ago and I actually host art meditation meetings for the freeze exercises here in NYC. I also host video meetings for those outside of NYC
Wouldn't have worked with someone like Tim Conway
The intro is too long and full of itself
He voiced wheatley.
I'm loving that I recognise every movie/cartoon/comic/tv show they mention, it makes it relevent on a level that a lot of these types of interviews hadn't been before. oh, we were doing so well until the end announcement. is it really so difficult to check how to pronounce Marc Bernardin's name? Bernadeen? Really?
Beau said in an interview that non binary and they/them weren't terma in the 90s so they wouldn't be used in the show (if he has his way). Morph's description at the end credits uses they them... disney sucks... He also said he sees shapeshifter as another word for non binary. So, both are pretend. I agree.
True, if the they/them term's were established in the 90's, Neil Gaiman & Grant Morrison would have used them in the comics Sandman & Invisibles (instead they did their best with things like "hir" for example). But once again, Beau knows his shit, get the man back on X-Men '97 where he belongs (at time of me writing S1, E5 just dropped). I'm familiar with both these Beau & Marc's work, they can give a master class any day of the week, see their names on a project, it's a stamp of quality!
She is so clear spoken and knows what she needs. its no wonder she wrote such a visually yet appealing, fun, tense story. and makes you feel happy yet blue during the end. Like she said punched in the heart. You do truly feel what the characters go through and they do things the viewer wants them to do She knows how to write a story
Beau is so hot ❤
Damn, thwy are on coke lol awesome
Like Bergman, Hitchcock and Fuller, Demme knew this regarding intense head-on close ups: "... you show exactly what the character sees, you shoot it exactly from their point of view."
It's not out of the question, that you might have a very minor case of serious brain damage
